What's an American Liberal?
September 20th 2007 09:35
A liberal is a believer in many of the following political positions:
* denial of inherent gender differences, leading to things such as allowing men and women to have the same jobs in the military (while quietly holding them to different standards)
* taxpayer-funded abortion
* same-sex marriage
* support of affirmative action
* support of political correctness [1]
* censorship of prayer in classrooms
* compelled taxpayer funding of government schools for nearly all ages
* government-controlled medical care
* labor unions
* elimination of abstinence-only program funding [2]
* income redistribution, usually through progressive taxation
* a "living Constitution" that is reinterpreted rather than an unchanging Constitution as written
* support for gun control
* government programs to rehabilitate criminals
* environmentalism [3]
* disarmament treaties
* globalism
* opposition to a strong American foreign policy [4]
* support of obscenity and pornography as a First Amendment right[5]
* opposition to full private property rights[6]
* limit conservative talk radio by reinstating the Fairness Doctrine

i love this one:
"opposition to a strong American foreign policy"
Strong as in 'going to war with every nation thats different'.
Whats funnier is if you read the links at the bottom, takes you to two other objective articles 'liberal hypocirsy' "Liberal hypocrisy is the act of a liberal saying or doing a certain thing for which they condemn others in doing."v(kind of like conservatie hypocricy wouldn't you say?) and liberla bias "Liberal bias is partisan support for liberal positions or policies. This bias infects encyclopedias, periodicals and broadcast media, and is pervasive on the Internet. It is expressed by reporters and other journalists in mainstream media and by teachers in public school and in many private schools."
Yikes.
Guess who was president of the united states during world war 2?

Just not liberal enough I guess.

What a load of rubbish prending to be an online encyclopeadia.
It is as if the whole of world history is being bent around American domestic party politics.
This is far worse than Wiki as it does even try to encourage objectivity in writing.
The heading alone betrays its intention:"The Trustworthy Encyclopeadia"
No accademic worth his salt would ever use that phrase as he would be laughed of his podium. Beggars belief in many articales.
Fascism: They specically say that it has nothing to do with conservatism. So why mention the two together?
Communism: Give scant account of its goals and reasoning. Yet quotes only to condemn. This offers nothing for any person even if they are anti communist to understand. Theory and horror are under the same heading, sloppy to say the least.
Evil: Mostly termed in biblical references. Gives no account of it connect to ethics and the nuances of morallity. All summed up in less that 200 words. I never knew it was so simple.
Neocons: Nicely described in detail with glaring ommissions and criticisms.
Wikipedea: Described indetail as haveing a liberal bias due to its founders. Makes no mention of the fact that it is the contributer that write the articales and bias is a perception rather that a science.
If this propaganda front is trying to compete with Wiki for credibility it is already defeated. Wiki is high school quality research but this is digital toilet paper. It insults the mind even of the most ardent conservative and treats people like dolts.
It will never have the status of anything more than another conspiracy site.

Left or right has no meaning in relation to objective and subjective writing styles.
I don't mince words.

Then I read the post more carefully. The statements of belief do not sound that off-base and irrational on their face; it is the explanatory words that are misleading. For a brief example, liberals are said to be against “abstinence-only program funding”. The objection is to programs that teach only abstinence. What a difference moving one word!
The website listed as a source is quite funny, though. I still insist the entire post is satirical and that proves liberals have a sense of humor.
