Awesomew Songs You've Never Heard of

Bjork – Hyperballad.
Bjork is probably the most successful artist in Iceland. Her music is electronic, mixed with vocals. Last album was made only with sounds from human voices. She was featured in the Athens Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, with her track Oceania.
Elliot Smith - Fond Farewell to a friend.
Incredibly talented singer songwriter. Battled with Drug addiction and depression. Died of what appeared to be two self inflicted stab wounds.
Frank Zappa – Willie The Pimp
Counter culture Icon. Powerful supporter of freedom of speech.
Go! Team – Bottle Rocket.
The Go! Team are a British, Brighton-based six piece band (with two drummers) whose songs are a mixture of action theme songs, cheerleader chants, guitars and early hip-hop, with a hint of '70s funk. Their songs are a mix of live instrumentation and samples from various sources. - From the Go Team Wikipedia article.
Her Space Holiday – Japanese Gum
From California.
The Islands – Where There’s a Will There’s a Whalebone
I know nothing about this band except they’re awesome.
Jason Webley – Eleven Saints
I saw this dude playing his accordion and stuff at the Dresden Dolls Concert. This is an awesome song, but nothing on CD can convey the supremacy of his stage presence and sense of showmanship. He used to theatrically die and be reborn annually, performing only while ‘dead’ but he no longer does that. He performs at Burning Man yearly.
Finding out Sharona is Blind – Louie XIV Devo The Knack Fatboy Slim.
This is a mash-up of “Finding out True Love is Blind”, “Working in a Cole Mine”, “My Sharona” and “The Rockefeller Skank”.
The Minstrels of the Revolution – Six Foot Prawn
Not only is this song kinda awesome, it’s made by the dudes who used to teach me acting.
múm – Green Grass of Tunnel
Icelandic Band. Searched for their music for over five years, then found their single!!! It’s a TINY CD, and it has this song on it. Come to think of it, it’s probably worth a bit, and I wish I hadn’t thrown the plastic bit out now. Hah! Like I’d give away that little gem.
Glósóli - Sigur Rós
Icelandic song, by THE MOST INCREDIBLE band I’ve ever seen perform live, based purely on the power of their music. The title translates as "Glowing sole". The lyrics are in Hopelandic, an invented nonsense language.
Istanbul (Not Constantinople) - They Might be Giants
This is a cover of an old school song. It’s done to the tune of “Puttin’ on the Ritz”. The band responsible also did the theme song to Malcolm in the Middle.
Mr Zebra – Tori Amos
I love you Tori…
In The Waiting Line – Zero Seven
From the Garden State soundtrack. I discovered it on You tube on some pretty lame video about a dude dying from taking Ecstasy.
The Mollusc – Ween
This is by the most variety filled band I’ve heard in my life. Their songs span all genres. If you heard another song by them I swear you wouldn’t recognize it. They’re great.

In fact, my time in Reykjavik was so seminal to my current reckless trajectory of personal growth that I'm going back for a whole freaking month.
My Orble will soon be diverging details!
