What Posts Are Popular on Blogs?
February 11th 2007 11:06
In this post I'm just going to focus on a few of the posts I've made in the past - Three from Tales From The Other Side, and one from this site, that have kept up a pretty consistent audience.
PRO-ANOREXIA
This was the first post I ever wrote on Orble, and is still by far the most visited of all the posts I've ever written.
The Lesson - if you post something relating to a popular Internet meme or culture, you WILL get noticed. However, the thing to remember is that as a blogger, you do have a moral duty. Just because you don't see your readers face to face doesn't mean you don't effect them. The best thing I could do for getting my income up would be to write a post on how to develop anorexia. But I don't want to push that barrow.
LSD CHICK TRACT
People love drugs. Love to read about them. ESPECIALLY conservatives, nothing better then looking for a few bloggers to whine about (OK, chill out, I'm joking, don't be hating). My post on the LSD Chick tract mock up on Erowid is continuously visited, as is my post on legalizing ecstasy.
Lesson - Write about drugs, especially specific ones.
THANK YOU FOR SMOKING
This is, ironically, my third ever post on Orble. It's been a pretty constant favorite.
Lesson - Easy as. Write about movies, using movie titles. S to the imple.
HEY GUYS, JESUS HERE
This isn't even an original post, but one I've reposted due to it's popularity. Yet again, even the duplicate article attracts a whole lot of traffic.
Lesson - Jesus is a popular fellow, and people love to read about him. There are oodles upon oodles of other words that gain traffic. Celebrities names, pop culture references. Play around a bit to find the best.
